Software equipment

The development of technology and software cannot be stopped and a professional translation agency cannot do without them. With their help, we are able to reduce costs and provide translation services cheaper and faster.

Translation tools are divided into two basic groups, CAT and MT.

CAT (Computer Aided Translation)

This kind of software helps to improve the quality but also the efficiency of work. It helps to create dictionaries and translation memories. Repetitive texts are stored in memory and do not need to be translated again. This ensures terminological consistency in all documents translated for each individual customer.

MT (Machine translation)

This type of fully automated translation is based on the latest generation of neural translators and AI (artificial intelligence) software. Today, this software is already at a high level and can be applied to certain types of texts.

Benefits

This type of machine translation is suitable for generally stereotyped and standardized texts (technical manuals, legal documents). The linguistic style of machine translation is very simple and austere. It is also sufficient for basic orientation in the translated document.

Disadvantages

  • The texts inserted into freely available machine translators can be used by a third party. This does not preserve the confidentiality of the information.
  • An unedited machine translation often contains serious flaws – there may be confusion of meaning, words or parts of text omitted, etc. Such errors can have serious consequences in some fields (especially where mistranslation could cause damage to property, injury, etc.). It is therefore necessary to check each machine translation carefully, i.e. to proofread or post-edit the machine translation.
  • Machine translation is strictly inappropriate for translations of stylistically demanding creative texts. Machine translation produces simple texts. Texts on websites or in presentations try to attract the attention of a potential client with a novel and creative style. It is therefore not recommended to use MT in these cases.
  • In some language pairs or fields, the machine translation does not have sufficient quality, because there are not enough references, and thus not enough material to train a quality MT engine (machine translation system).

It is always the project manager’s decision to determine in which mode a given project will be translated. It is of course also possibl
